“Carapace” Necklace
I found the larger oval beads and the
rondelle beads in this necklace at Michael’s and luckily had matching seed beads and bicones in my stash. I was inspired to make a statement piece necklace because these colors together make me think of those beautiful iridescent jewel beetles!
I found many versions of this type of netting stitch necklace online. It is a pretty simple pattern to make and very versatile in what beads you can include and how to do the fringe…it helps to have a longer needle if you’re making the fringe longer!
Sadly, this piece was stolen while I had it on display at a local art show in April 2025. I may have enough supplies to remake this piece or an approximation of it.
Stitched with lime green and green iris Czech seed beads, lime green and iridescent glass beads and Nymo thread. 38 cm neck length, longest drop (middle) is 11 cm
Pattern: Modified from “Fresh Mint” at beadsmagic.com.
