Cupric Goddess Lariat Necklace
This Lariat necklace was my first foray back into beading in July 2023. I’d had the “Beaded Allure” book for years and some seed beads already in my stash - I’ve been making jewelry since I was a teen but it was mostly bead stringing, wire bead links, or macrame. Something about bead weaving pulled me back in and I decided to tackle something that looked easy. I picked this Lariat pattern from the book and decided on a clear/transparent and copper color scheme. The Goddess part comes from way back when I used to bellydance. The troupe I was in always had nicely themed and coordinated costumes and one of my favorite sets was white with copper accents…it was giving some serious Greek Goddess vibes. A beautiful color combo!
This necklace pattern is essentially a russian snake chain stitch with some tassel-y dangles at the end. It works up pretty quickly and is a great pattern for a beginner. You will need some kind of ring connector for the end; I used some 14 gauge copper wire, cut it and filed the edge and made it into a ring.
This dainty & delicate lariat necklace is made with size 11 glass Czech seed beads, and random glass & acrylic beads with a copper lariat ring and stitched with white Nymo thread.
Pattern is “Chain Lariat” from the book “Beaded Allure” by Kelly Wiese.
